A Naming Ceremony, while usually for a child, is for anyone of any age. It can be at home, in a garden or anywhere you wish. It is an opportunity to publicly name and welcome a child and provides the perfect chance to declare to family and friends your promise to be a good parent or parents.
Godparents or Guideparents can make their promises to support you and the child in life’s ups and downs. It acknowledges the great importance of family and friends in your child’s life. Symbolic actions such as candle- lighting, sand ceremonies or hand or foot printing can be weaved into the ceremony. It is also a lovely way to mark adoption or fostering or the blending of families.
